NutraPro® Canine K9: Probiotic support for dogs
NutraPro® Canine K9 is a probiotic and prebiotic dietary supplement in powder form designed to specifically support gastrointestinal function and the immune system in dogs. The formula combines three probiotic bacterial strains with selected prebiotics (fructo-oligosaccharides, mannan-oligosaccharides, inulin). Its efficacy has been clinically confirmed by a study conducted by the Small Animal Clinic at LMU Munich. Packaged in 30 pre-portioned sachets of 1 g each. No refrigeration required.
Three probiotic bacterial strains: Enterococcus faecium, Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bacillus subtilis. Guaranteed levels of live microorganisms to provide targeted support for the gut flora.
Selected prebiotics: fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), mannan-oligosaccharides (MOS) and inulin specifically promote the growth of beneficial gut bacteria and create an environment that suppresses pathogenic bacteria.
Clinically proven efficacy: A study conducted by the Small Animal Clinic at LMU Munich (Stübing et al. 2024) demonstrates that, in cases of acute diarrhoea, NutraPro® Canine K9 is an equivalent alternative to metronidazole, whilst offering significantly better protection of the microbiome
Immune system and recovery: Provides targeted support for the immune system following surgery, courses of antibiotics and in cases of chronic illness.
Wide range of uses: Combats acute digestive and faecal problems, can reduce susceptibility to allergies, infections and skin conditions, prevents the spread of fungal infections and helps with food intolerances.
High palatability: Hydrolysed chicken liver ensures excellent palatability. Easily digestible, suitable for all breeds of all ages, including puppies.
Probiotic stabilisation instead of antibiotic treatment
Around 85% of the immune system is located in the gut. The gut flora, organ functions and the body’s defences are closely interlinked. Disruptions to the intestinal microbiota, such as those caused by antibiotics, stress or changes in diet, can weaken the immune response and increase susceptibility to secondary illnesses.
NutraPro® Canine K9 is based on the principle of targeted microbial stabilisation. The three probiotic bacterial strains colonise the gut and support the natural gut flora. At the same time, the prebiotic components (FOS, MOS, inulin) selectively promote the growth of beneficial microorganisms. This strengthens the gut flora rather than placing a strain on it.
The clinical study conducted by the Small Animal Clinic at LMU Munich (Stübing et al. 2024) supports this approach: in a prospective, randomised, double-blind trial involving 27 dogs with acute, non-bloody diarrhoea, NutraPro® Canine K9 was directly compared with metronidazole. The result: the improvement in stool consistency was equivalent. The key difference lay in the protection of the microbiome: whilst metronidazole led to a significant increase in the dysbiosis index, the gut flora remained significantly more stable with NutraPro® Canine K9 (p < 0.0001).
In short: the same clinical improvement, significantly less strain on the gut flora.
